National Gardening Week DAY 4

The sun returned today.  Grant also returned to help prick out seedlings and did a great job!
S4 pupils Michael and Ralf also came out and helped to clear a raised bed.
They also raised the level of the bed by hammering new timbers into place.
The S3 class worked really well today - pricking out seedlings, potting up cuttings and
clearing & tidying the shed extension.
Well done boys.
At lunch time, the S1 class came out with cakes they had made earlier to serve to our volunteers and visitors.
They went down very well!
Thanks to all those who came out both to work and explore the garden!
Three important visitors look on as Lewis pots up cuttings.  Thanks to Mr Cruickshank, Mrs Hall and local police officer for visiting!

Volunteers carried on weeding...
...and mulching.
After school, Mr Reid came with his JCB to level the area between the two polytunnels.
It looks rather worse than it did!  It is now level however and has been loosened so will be easier for us to rake and move the topsoil into a new raised bed.  We will then lay weed barrier ready for landscaping the area - hopefully building a patio and paths later in the year.  Lots of work to keep us busy!
